MatchLight Adobe Photoshop
™ 7.0 Plug-in:
MatchLight's unique image calibration capability is now seamlessly integrated with Photoshop (available for Windows & Mac).

When used in combination with MatchLight's Patent Pending Light Targets, MatchLight Software enables you to create LightMaps that photographers use to calibrate background and foreground images for Light Direction, Light Elevation, Light Quality (hard, semi-diffused, diffused) and Camera Elevation. MatchLight gives digital artists a powerful tool that can be used for all of your image compositing projects.

About LightMaps™
MatchLight Software's primary purpose is to graphically illustrate all of the lighting and perspective characteristics present in a photograph. Used in combination with MatchLight Light Targets, MatchLight Software automatically outputs this information into a graphical illustration we refer to as a "LightMap".

Why are LightMaps important? Imagine trying to build a house without a blueprint - the results could be disastrous. Well, building a realistic image composite is really no different. In attempting to photograph two different subjects, at different times, in different locations, perhaps even by different photographers, that will later be composited in a realistic manner-- can be a daunting challenge to even the most skilled professional.

We've all seen bad composites: The lighting is wrong, the feet are “floating”, the perspective is jarring- need we go on? Good composites, however, share something in common: The Lighting and Perspective of BOTH the foreground AND background images are identical giving the final composite a natural look--- nearly indistinguishable from actually having shot on location. This is where LightMaps make the difference: LightMaps are a “blueprint” to help photographers and digital artists build great composites!

Now for the first time, there is a predictable and consistent method to create realistic image composites. If you've tried it the old way, you know how painful it can be which is why, in spite of powerful image manipulation tools like Photoshop and others, realistic image compositing has not been widely adopted until now.
